Malice In Downunderland

Mr. Rabbit of Downunderland
Thought he was in Wonderland.
Together with White Queen Julie
They both thought that truly, ruly
They could be restored to power.
He stood acclaimed, man of the hour.
But then Windsor Caterpillar,
Famous Jaberwocky killer,
Cheated Mr. Rabbit of his goal,
Throwing him in a big black hole
With Tweedledum and Tweedledee
a.k.a. Robb and Joe Hockey.
Dodo Oakeshott and Mad Bob Katter
Also sought answers on another matter.
That’s when Mr. Rabbit’s failure
Meant Red Queen Julia now rules Australia.

NOTES,             I revised this on 07/06/12,   in response to comments at the Poll Bludger and an interchange between Lynchpin and Poroti the songs about Working Class Man and I Come From the Land Downunder.

Mr. Rabbit of Downunderland
Thought he was in Wonderland.
Together with White Queen Julie
They both thought that truly, ruly
They could be restored to power.
He stood acclaimed, man of the hour.
But now Windsor Caterpillar,
Famous Jaberwocky killer,
Cheats our Mr. Rabbit of his goal,
Throwing him in a big black hole
With Tweedledum and Tweedledee
a.k.a. Robb and Joe Hockey.
Dodo Oakeshott and Mad Bob Katter
Want answers on another matter.
Looks like Mr. Rabbit’s failure
Means Red Queen Julia rules Australia.

COMMENTS:

Lynchpin,     07/06/12,    PatriciaWA, does your excellent poem fit to any music that you are aware of?

Patriciawa,    07/06/12,     Lynchpin and Poroti, Just shows how one should always Refresh before Clicking!    I will be in touch anyway at Lynchpin Recording Studios! Wow!   Just seen your query 5018 No, I have never consciously tried to adapt a song. Though some tradional tunes and rhythms do run through one’s mind all the time, I guess.   I’ll have a look to see if there is anything remotely attributable or recognisable in my other stuff.   I’m no music buff, but Jimmy Barnes and Bruce Springsteen this morning and the words of those songs really stirred me up. Wouldn’t it be great to do something even remotely as good as that.

Yaz,     02/09/2010 Patricia, Love your work. Not enough poetry in politics these days. Perhaps we should have parliamentary question time in compulsory rhyming couplets, to make it more interesting.

Miglo,     02/09/2010 Love the pome, Patricia. Lol. Did Tony Abbott help you write it?

Tom R,     02/09/2010 lol Patricia I read your post earlier this morning over at LP, and loved the Jaberwocky reference. This whole election campaign has been such a farce that even Alice wouldn’t believe it! Malice in Downunderland indeed!
